Furniture With A Wow Factor

Every room needs a signature piece of furniture.

The one which elicits “oohs” and “aahs” from your family and friends, and accents the style of your home.

Form, function and beauty. All wrapped into one unforgettable piece.

But not all furniture meets those requirements. Fortunately, we have furniture which is the pinnacle of craftsmanship.

Our Woodworks collection is Amish furniture built in Pennsylvania. And right now we have a special deal on the Mission chest, which features 11 drawers with full extension glides in a rustic Oak finish.

This is the chest your bedroom has been waiting for. The simple, clean lines and natural wood style fit well into any decor. It’s a standout piece which ties the room together and has plenty of space for clothes, blankets or anything else you need to store.

When you want a piece of furniture which exudes artistry, don’t settle for less than the best. We offer the highest quality items which make your design dreams a reality.

The Best Dining Room Table For Entertaining

You love to entertain.

Parties, family dinners, last-minute get-togethers: you do it all.

Nothing compares to the thrill of prepping food, decorating and deciding on the theme for your event. It’s your happy place.

That is, until everyone (tries) to gather at the table.

Your dining room table is small, dingy and a little wobbly. It’s time for an upgrade.

At West Coast Appliance and Furniture we have many fabulous dining sets. But our favorite is this beauty from Modus Furniture International. The table is crafted from 2” thick planks of Acacia wood and powder-coated iron. It’s sealed with a clear lacquer to preserve the natural wood grain.

Now if that doesn’t say masterpiece, we don’t know what does.

With 6 chairs, you’ll have enough seating to accommodate family, friends and drop-in guests.

You are already the ultimate entertainer. Now you will have the table to match the title.

Easy Halloween Decorating Ideas

7 days until Halloween!

Many of us have plans for All Hallow’s Eve — parties, tricks, treats and costumes. But what do you think of when your friends talk about Halloween decorations?

You don’t have to spend tons of money on expensive, party-store decorations. It’s time to get creative with your Halloween fun.

Plentiful Pumpkins
You love pumpkins and gourds. Big, small, smooth or bumpy; they’re adorable! Your kids love getting their Halloween pumpkins, but unfortunately, you’re not too handy with the carving knife.

That shouldn’t stop you from having all sorts of pumpkin fun. Decorate your pumpkins with paint, hats, scarves, fake glasses and mustaches. The possibilities are endless!

Fill Your Jars
Everyone has extra mason jars in the kitchen. Why let them sit in the cupboards gathering dust? Grab a few jars and fill them with colorful fall leaves, shimmering beads or ghostly treats.

Scary Lamps
By using scrim, a gauze-like fabric, you can create the illusion of a spider web. Hang the fabric over the lamp and watch your house transform from normal to spooky. A dim light is best for this project because it complements the scrim and produces a creepier effect.

With a little toil and trouble, turn your house into Halloween central. Kids and adults will love it!

Professional Pieces for Your Office

Decorate your home office
Renovations have a lot of moving parts. You need appliances, furniture, accessories and accent pieces. You already know the biggest items you need: a washer, dryer, refrigerator, oven and things like that. But what about more humble pieces that are often forgotten? Well, they aren’t forgotten at West Coast Appliance and Furniture. We not only have the big-ticket items needed for your renovations, but the smaller ones too.

You have the large projects done, like your kitchen and bathroom, and now you’re working your way through the other rooms. Your office is next on the list. Do you have a desk, office chair or filing cabinet? These items make your home office feel professional and welcoming.

If you have clients over, you don’t want to use cardboard boxes as your desk and chair. Files stacked to one side? Don’t wait until those papers topple over in a life-size rendering of Jenga. A professional, high quality filing cabinet stores all your important papers without cluttering the rest of the room. Tall, short, wood or metal — these filing cabinets will fit in with whatever your personal style is.

A home office should not only be professional, but a reflection of you, too. Your style and personality should shine through all the time, whether you’re meeting clients or burning the midnight oil finishing a project.

Whatever you need, our team can help you find the pieces which bring your home office to life.

Is Your Kitchen Artisanal, Minimal or Tech-Savvy?

Kitchen styles

Trends come and go. Some of us were around both times leggings were in fashion. And who doesn’t remember when every dish had bacon in it? Although it seems like that trend is still going on.

Kitchens also experience the ebb and flow of what’s trendy. Three kitchen trends have emerged in recent years: artisanal, minimal and tech-savvy. These styles developed as people’s tastes evolved. Each trend has its unique qualities. Do you know which one you like best?

Artisanal kitchens are all about the atmosphere. Warm finishes and traditional touches give off the classic vibe of the kitchens of yesteryear. An artisanal kitchen is handcrafted and heartwarming. It hearkens back to the warmth of our grandmother’s kitchen. The decor, cabinetry and appliances have an authentic look and appeal to our emotions. In these kitchens, you don’t just make meals; you make memories.

On the flip side, there’s the minimalist kitchen for those who prefer a sleek and clean look. This style has been unfolding for years. The overall design is contemporary, and minimalist kitchens use a lot of glass in their designs. One new innovation popular in many minimalist kitchens are appliances which disappear into the cabinetry.

Other kitchens mesh style with the latest technologies. Technology continually impacts kitchen design by making products easier to use. Appliances are faster and last longer. User interfaces blend current technology with kitchen gadgetry. What materializes from the mashup of home appliances and technology is a kitchen with an eye to the future.

Do you know which style suits you best? Maybe you like a little from each trend. The best part is you can create whatever kitchen your heart desires. Start with an artisanal vibe, sprinkle in a few minimalist glass accents and top it off with the latest technology. The final product will be the kitchen of your dreams.

What Does Your Living Room Say?

living room furniture

Your living room should radiate warmth, and welcome family and friends like they’re getting a big bear hug. Unfortunately, a living room can look bland and tired after years of use and neglect; eliciting more sighing than cheering from your family.
couch

Let’s be honest. Living rooms are often overlooked even though they’re the hub of the home. You gather there to watch movies, the kids have friends over after school and sometimes you eat dinner on the couch in front of the television.

Your living room is a busy place. You vacuum and dust faithfully to keep it clean. But what about the furniture in your living room? Vacuuming a lumpy sofa or old, tired recliner is fruitless. Why not start fresh with furniture that brings life and zest back to your living room?

Imagine sinking into a plush and cozy couch after a long day at the office. Pour a glass of wine, put your feet up and let a soft sofa envelop you. When homework time rolls around, the kids will feel relaxed while they work. Better grades because of a comfortable couch? Anything is possible.

Sectionals also offer versatility for your living room. A larger space
sectional
can easily accommodate multiple pieces of furniture. It’s the perfect fit if you entertain regularly, or want a lot of room to spread out when you watch television.

Living rooms are meant to be lived in. A place where memories are made. Wouldn’t you rather make those memories in a comfortable and beautiful setting?

You deserve the best, and so does your living room. Create a pleasant space for family and a welcoming atmosphere for guests.

What's your kitchen design style?

Stainless steel appliances

Do you buy a live tree or fake? Serve turkey or ham for Christmas? Install stainless steel or black stainless steel appliances?

That last question doesn’t come up often, but when it does, it deserves thorough consideration. Your choice of appliances changes the look of your kitchen and could affect the value of your home if you decide to sell it someday.

Each style of appliance has its own flair. Which one is right for you?

Stainless steel is timeless: durable, scratch-resistant and matches every type of cabinet. Decide to paint the walls a crazy color or stain your cabinets in a unique wacky shade? Stainless steel appliances will still match. They stand up to whatever design shenanigans you can dream up.

Because it is metallic, black stainless also matches most cabinet styles. It’s versatile and appealing to
a wide range of designs. Black stainless is smudge and fingerprint proof, unlike other stainless finishes, so little hands can’t get your appliances dirty. It’s a good alternative if you’re tired of regular stainless steel, but it’s not scratch-resistant. If you scratch black stainless, a shiny surface underneath will show through.

So how do you choose? We’ve laid out the options. Only you can make the final decision. Don’t worry too much, though. Whichever you choose, it will look classy and elegant against your cabinets, walls and overall design. In the end, the real winner of this contest is you.

Elegant Halloween home decorations

Elegant Halloween decorations

Halloween is a night of tricks, treats and spooky fun, but it doesn’t have to be all zombies, ghosts, blood and gore. Your Halloween decorations can add a splash of sophistication and spunk to your fall decor. Let’s look at a few ideas that swap those old party store cobwebs for decorations pleasing to the entire family.

Painted pumpkins
Don’t carve, paint!

Pumpkins are a Halloween staple. If you’re not a carving master, or want an activity safe for the kids, trade in a knife for a paint brush. Paint your pumpkins with polka dots, stripes or even a face! Painting pumpkins allows you to flex those creative muscles and the options are endless.

Create atmosphere with candles

Rather than relying solely on candlelight to create mood, focus on your candle holders. Iron lanterns have an aged, sleek look that harkens back to the time of the Headless Horseman or travelers finding refuge in a wooded cabin. Turn off the lamps, light your candles and gather around to tell scary stories.

Pillows with personality

Throw pillows are fun accent pieces you can play around with all year long. And Halloween
Decorative Halloween pillows
is no exception. Halloween-themed pillows can have scary quotes, images of pumpkins or a creepy Halloween backdrop. We guarantee your guests will look twice at these spooky pillows during the Halloween festivities.

As you decorate for Halloween, think outside the coffin. Pumpkins aren’t just for the porch anymore and even skulls and ghosts can make an elegant (and spooky!) table runner. Embrace the Halloween spirit and make your home boo-ti-ful this holiday.

How to Turn Your Bedroom Into an Oasis

Home sanctuary

A sanctuary is a haven; a retreat from the problems and pressures of daily life. No one can touch the sanctity of your sanctuary. It’s yours and yours alone.

Usually.

Reality has crept up to the borders of your sanctuary. Dirty clothes are edging closer to the door and you can hear the buzz of your phone down the hall. You need to redefine boundaries and recreate your sanctuary.

Your bedroom should be an oasis -- a place of rest. Reclaim your space. How do you start? Easy! West Coast Appliance and Furniture has you covered. Choose from a wide selection of “ready to go” bedding groups. Then it's time to relax.

Aimwell bedroom set
Even if you can’t escape to a cabin retreat, you can unwind in your own vintage bedroom every day! The Aimwell bedroom set has a warm brown finish which enhances the cherry grain and features golden rub through accenting. The two-tone look is easy on the eyes and distinguishes your bedroom as the sanctuary of the house.

Perfectly crafted furniture will bring your sanctuary to new heights. Your home retreat will reflect your taste 100 percent.

Grab a book, a glass of wine and leave your phone in the entryway. Wear your coziest slippers and settle in among your pillows. You won’t want to leave your sanctuary. Promise.

Sheesham Wood Outlasts Them All

Sheesham wood furniture pieces are like snowflakes. Each one is unique. Known for its durability and longevity, #sheesham wood has natural grains, so no two pieces are alike. Your sheesham wood coffee table, dining set or bed will be one-of-a-kind.

Rich grains are a hallmark of sheesham wood. But like with any
Sheesham wood
quality product, it requires TLC from you to last a long time. Practice these simple techniques and you’ll pass your furniture down from generation to generation.

Don’t expose the wood to direct sunlight, temperature variations or humidity changes. Doing so could fade the rich color or warp the wood. Remember when your grandma always made you use a coaster at her house? It's because she knew proper care techniques. Coasters protect the wood from stains or absorbing unwanted liquids or heat.

For the actual cleaning, a light dusting will suffice. Follow up with a few swipes from a slightly moistened cotton cloth to capture any dirt. Don’t use too much water because it may leave stains or warp the wood.

Finally, give it a good polish to add shine and vibrancy. For a superior polish, use a natural beeswax polish. Buff with a dry cloth to remove extra wax, step back, and enjoy the sheen of your sheesham wood.

Easy to clean and lasts a long time? No, it’s not too good to be true. Sheesham wood is durable and the best furniture you'll ever own.
