3 Must-Clean Places In Your Kitchen

The West Coast Appliance and Furniture family is committed to keeping our office clean, healthy and safe for our employees and customers. We’re monitoring the COVID-19 situation daily and taking several actions in our store, which you can read on our website.

We know many people are either self-isolating or practicing social distancing to curb the spread of COVID-19. If you find yourself at home with more time on your hands, it’s always a good idea to give your house a thorough cleaning.

There are places where you clean often, but did you know there are 3 places in your kitchen which are rarely cleaned?

The next time you clean your kitchen, don’t forget these germ hot spots!

Sponges
We use them to clean our dishes, but sponges are a source of various contaminants, including things like salmonella. To clean your sponge, put it in the microwave for two minutes and then replace with a new sponge often.

Appliance handles, knobs & switches
Dirty hands easily transfer germs and bacteria to these surfaces. Clean these spots weekly with a disinfecting product, or more often if someone in your house is sick.

Microwave
There’s nothing worse than opening the microwave and seeing food splatter everywhere. Disinfect the interior of your microwave with a multi-surface cleaner once a week.

This is a period of unknowns, but if we act responsibly and safely, we will come through this difficult time together.

It's Time For A New Washer & Dryer

Everyone has a favorite, or least favorite, house chore.

For many, doing the laundry falls into the category of “least favorite.”

You usually start this chore off with lots of gusto — gathering up the dirty clothes, tossing them into the washing machine and prepping the next load.

But after a couple of hours the adrenaline rush wears off. The clean clothes end up unfolded in the laundry basket or piled on the bed.

Even though laundry isn’t on the top of your favorite chores list, sometimes having the right equipment makes a tough task easier.

A new washer and dryer are a big investment, especially in space. If you don’t have a lot of room, you might think a new appliance is out of the question. Fortunately, it’s not!

With a stacked washer and dryer from GE, you can have quality equipment that doesn’t take up a lot of room in your house or apartment. This stackable has all the qualities you want in a washer and dryer, including 11 wash programs, auto-load sensing with four water levels, four dry programs and an up-front lint filter.

While laundry isn’t fun, we hope it can be a little easier when you have the right washer and dryer by your side.

4 Pots And Pans For Your Kitchen

There are numerous pots and pans on the market. And if you watch a lot of cooking shows, it seems like you need an entire department store’s worth of cookware to create a delicious meal.

Well, we don’t think you need tons of pots and pans cluttering up your cabinets. With just these four kitchen staples, you can make anything!

Stockpot
You’ll use this for steaming, simmering, boiling and blanching a variety of pasta, vegetable and soup dishes. Look for a hefty stockpot with a lid and two handles, and at least an 8-quart capacity.

Saucepan
The ultimate multitasker! You can use this for cooking soup, rice, noodles and much more. A quality saucepan will have a handle with a strong connection to the pan and a lid that fits snuggly. A two-quart saucepan is your best bet to use for a variety of recipes.

Sauté pan/skillet
A must-have for searing, frying and sautéing things like meat, veggies, sauces and one-dish dinners. You’ll want a pan with a thick construction to avoid hot spots. The most common size is a 10-inch pan, and you could go with a non-stick finish. Also, the entire thing should be oven-proof in case you need to broil a dish.

Rimmed baking sheet
These aren’t just for baking cookies; a rimmed baking sheet is also used to roast and cook vegetables, fries and freezer-friendly meals. You’ll want a heavy baking sheet to get an even distribution of heat.

Now that you have the basics, you’re ready to be a kitchen master!
