4 Pots And Pans For Your Kitchen

There are numerous pots and pans on the market. And if you watch a lot of cooking shows, it seems like you need an entire department store’s worth of cookware to create a delicious meal.

Well, we don’t think you need tons of pots and pans cluttering up your cabinets. With just these four kitchen staples, you can make anything!

Stockpot
You’ll use this for steaming, simmering, boiling and blanching a variety of pasta, vegetable and soup dishes. Look for a hefty stockpot with a lid and two handles, and at least an 8-quart capacity.

Saucepan
The ultimate multitasker! You can use this for cooking soup, rice, noodles and much more. A quality saucepan will have a handle with a strong connection to the pan and a lid that fits snuggly. A two-quart saucepan is your best bet to use for a variety of recipes.

Sauté pan/skillet
A must-have for searing, frying and sautéing things like meat, veggies, sauces and one-dish dinners. You’ll want a pan with a thick construction to avoid hot spots. The most common size is a 10-inch pan, and you could go with a non-stick finish. Also, the entire thing should be oven-proof in case you need to broil a dish.

Rimmed baking sheet
These aren’t just for baking cookies; a rimmed baking sheet is also used to roast and cook vegetables, fries and freezer-friendly meals. You’ll want a heavy baking sheet to get an even distribution of heat.

Now that you have the basics, you’re ready to be a kitchen master!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Let the Thanksgiving countdown begin!

The big day is almost here. You’re prepping food, welcoming relatives and preparing to feast on your favorite mains and side dishes.

While we all love the fabulous food of Thanksgiving, let’s not forget the true meaning of the day.

Thanksgiving is a time to share our gratitude for life’s many blessings — family, friends, food, shelter, and waking up each day.

We should also remember those who may be less fortunate. So this holiday season, we encourage you to volunteer, reach out, donate and show compassion to the people in our communities who need help or a hand up.

As you gather with your family tomorrow, give thanks for every moment.

From our family to yours,

Happy Thanksgiving!

The Best Dining Room Set For Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is tantalizing close. So close in fact, you can practically taste the turkey and fabulous side dishes whenever you think about it.

You also have a lot to do this year, because it’s your turn to host the family for Thanksgiving.

But you’ve got things under control. You decided on the menu in September and have everything written down — from what you need to prep, defrost and cook, and when. It’s all going like clockwork.

Until you realized you don’t have enough space to seat everyone.

What are you going to do?

Fortunately,  we have a ten-piece dining room set that will transform the vibe of any dining room, and has enough space for your guests. Plus, the rustic, dark brown wood finish will suit any style and decor you currently have.

Simple Fixes For Common Dinner Mistakes

Did you accidentally spill too much salt in your sauce? Or overcook a steak?

Don’t despair and call for pizza just yet. You can save it!

With a few simple fixes, you can turn a kitchen failure into a culinary success.

Too Much Salt
Cooking is all about balance, which is key if you accidentally over-salt something. If you’re serving the meal with a starch, such as rice or pasta, that can absorb some of the extra salt. If you add too much salt to soup, then double the recipe and leave out the extra salt. You can always freeze the leftovers.

Overcooked Meat
Timing is important when cooking meat. If your recipe calls for a 30-minute cook time, watch the meat carefully because it could cook through much sooner. A meat thermometer helps with this. If your meat does overcook, shred the meat and use it in a pot pie or pasta sauce.

A Thin Sauce
Cornstarch can thicken and save a thin sauce. Create a cornstarch slurry by mixing equal parts cold water and cornstarch into the sauce. Cook 2-5 minutes until the sauce reaches your desired thickness. This also works with curries and soups.

Don’t let these mistakes ruin your dinner. With a few handy maneuvers, you’ll save dinner and no one will be the wiser!

An Easy Weeknight Dinner

A warm, hearty meal cooked and on the table in under an hour?

Oh, yes!

Weeknights are busy. You rush from work to run errands before picking up the kids from school. They’re hungry from a long day and ask what’s for dinner.

When you arrive home, the kids pile out of the car, toss their backpacks into the hallway and start their homework. They ask how much TV and video game time they can have tonight as you slog inside after them.

Exhausted, you mutter a standard answer of “We’ll see” and stare into the kitchen. Nothing is chopped, cooked, baked or prepped. Maybe you should order in tonight…

Sound familiar?

Weeknight dinners don’t have to be stressful. With a few simple pantry staples, you can whip up a delicious two bean chili in under 60 minutes.

This thick, tummy-warming chili feeds a crowd and makes enough if your kid’s friends unexpectedly show up for dinner.

A comforting chili dinner is the perfect way to cap off any weeknight. Your family will love it!

A Simple Winter Soup Recipe

Brrr...it’s cold outside!

There are lots of ways to warm up during the winter — crank up the heater, sit by the fireplace, drink a cup of hot tea or cozy up under a fluffy blanket.

But winter is soup season, and we think nothing warms the soul — and tummy! — like a bowl of hearty soup.

Once just a partner to sandwiches, soup is more than a side dish. When done right, soup can be an entire meal. Grab a slice of bread, whip up a quick salad and you have a winter feast!

There are several flavors of soup — split pea, tomato, chicken noodle — but we think there’s always room to add a new recipe to your soup repertoire.

This African Bean Soup is filled with hearty protein and healthy vegetables. If eating healthy is one of your New Year’s resolutions, then you must try this soup. It’s made with whole foods and no nasty preservatives. It’s also a great way to get your kids to eat their veggies without complaining or arguing.

Winter is synonymous with soup. This easy recipe is the ultimate winter treat and will keep you warm all season long.
