4 Pots And Pans For Your Kitchen

There are numerous pots and pans on the market. And if you watch a lot of cooking shows, it seems like you need an entire department store’s worth of cookware to create a delicious meal.

Well, we don’t think you need tons of pots and pans cluttering up your cabinets. With just these four kitchen staples, you can make anything!

Stockpot
You’ll use this for steaming, simmering, boiling and blanching a variety of pasta, vegetable and soup dishes. Look for a hefty stockpot with a lid and two handles, and at least an 8-quart capacity.

Saucepan
The ultimate multitasker! You can use this for cooking soup, rice, noodles and much more. A quality saucepan will have a handle with a strong connection to the pan and a lid that fits snuggly. A two-quart saucepan is your best bet to use for a variety of recipes.

Sauté pan/skillet
A must-have for searing, frying and sautéing things like meat, veggies, sauces and one-dish dinners. You’ll want a pan with a thick construction to avoid hot spots. The most common size is a 10-inch pan, and you could go with a non-stick finish. Also, the entire thing should be oven-proof in case you need to broil a dish.

Rimmed baking sheet
These aren’t just for baking cookies; a rimmed baking sheet is also used to roast and cook vegetables, fries and freezer-friendly meals. You’ll want a heavy baking sheet to get an even distribution of heat.

Now that you have the basics, you’re ready to be a kitchen master!
