Easy Halloween Decorating Ideas

7 days until Halloween!

Many of us have plans for All Hallow’s Eve — parties, tricks, treats and costumes. But what do you think of when your friends talk about Halloween decorations?

You don’t have to spend tons of money on expensive, party-store decorations. It’s time to get creative with your Halloween fun.

Plentiful Pumpkins
You love pumpkins and gourds. Big, small, smooth or bumpy; they’re adorable! Your kids love getting their Halloween pumpkins, but unfortunately, you’re not too handy with the carving knife.

That shouldn’t stop you from having all sorts of pumpkin fun. Decorate your pumpkins with paint, hats, scarves, fake glasses and mustaches. The possibilities are endless!

Fill Your Jars
Everyone has extra mason jars in the kitchen. Why let them sit in the cupboards gathering dust? Grab a few jars and fill them with colorful fall leaves, shimmering beads or ghostly treats.

Scary Lamps
By using scrim, a gauze-like fabric, you can create the illusion of a spider web. Hang the fabric over the lamp and watch your house transform from normal to spooky. A dim light is best for this project because it complements the scrim and produces a creepier effect.

With a little toil and trouble, turn your house into Halloween central. Kids and adults will love it!

Win the Fight Against Chocolate Stains

how to remove chocolate stains
After Halloween, your kids happily bring home buckets and pillowcases full of candy, most of which are blanketed in a thick chocolate coating. You’ve done your post-Halloween due diligence and checked their candy hauls for anything suspicious, and found a way to distribute their chocolaty treats throughout the upcoming months so they don’t eat it all in one night.

One thing you didn’t plan for were the chocolate stains, and not just what gets on their hands and face. All those new clothes you bought for their back to school wardrobe? Some of them are already dirty, stained with chocolate from Halloween night.

Is it possible to clean these clothes and save yourself money and heartache? Fortunately, with a few simple steps you can remove chocolate stains from washable fabrics.

  1. Scrape off excess chocolate, but do so carefully. You don’t want to rub chocolate deeper in the fibers of the clothes.
  2. Flush the back of the stained clothing with cold water or soda water. This loosens the chocolate particles.
  3. Rub laundry detergent or liquid dishwashing detergent into the stain, so it saturates the fabric.
  4. Soak the clothes in cold water for 15 minutes, gently rubbing the stain every 3-5 minutes. Continue doing this and rinsing the garment until the stain is gone. You may need to apply more detergent for a stubborn stain.
  5. If the stain remains, use a commercial stain remover.
  6. Wash as usual in the washing machine, and the stain should be gone. If not, repeat steps 2-5. Check to see if the stain is gone before drying or ironing.

You need no longer fear the dreaded chocolate stain. It can easily be removed in a few simple steps, returning clothes to their former glory.

Hotel Luxury at Home

Halloween is one of your favorite holidays. You dressed up every year when you were young, you take the kids trick-or-treating now, and you love to see all the adorable costumes of the children who knock on your door.

You want to go out this year, but don’t know what costume to choose. How about going as someone who is well-rested?

The past couple of months have been chaotic with school starting, sports games, new schedules and other activities you didn’t have going on during the summer. And with the holidays coming up, it’s only going to get crazier.

You retire to your bed every night with the hope of feeling well-rested the next morning, but you never do. Your old mattress leaves you feeling achy all the time. But what if you could enjoy the comfort of hotel extravagance in your own bedroom?

The Bellagio At Home Mattress Collection by Serta is all the luxury of a hotel bed, but without the
Azzura II Firm
expensive hotel bill. The collection has three quality mattresses which exceed your greatest expectations. The Azzura II Firm is for those who prefer a firmer mattress, and exudes ultimate comfort with the Serta Cool Twist Gel Memory Foam and individually wrapped coil innerspring system.

Tempted yet?

Elegant Halloween home decorations

Elegant Halloween decorations

Halloween is a night of tricks, treats and spooky fun, but it doesn’t have to be all zombies, ghosts, blood and gore. Your Halloween decorations can add a splash of sophistication and spunk to your fall decor. Let’s look at a few ideas that swap those old party store cobwebs for decorations pleasing to the entire family.

Painted pumpkins
Don’t carve, paint!

Pumpkins are a Halloween staple. If you’re not a carving master, or want an activity safe for the kids, trade in a knife for a paint brush. Paint your pumpkins with polka dots, stripes or even a face! Painting pumpkins allows you to flex those creative muscles and the options are endless.

Create atmosphere with candles

Rather than relying solely on candlelight to create mood, focus on your candle holders. Iron lanterns have an aged, sleek look that harkens back to the time of the Headless Horseman or travelers finding refuge in a wooded cabin. Turn off the lamps, light your candles and gather around to tell scary stories.

Pillows with personality

Throw pillows are fun accent pieces you can play around with all year long. And Halloween
Decorative Halloween pillows
is no exception. Halloween-themed pillows can have scary quotes, images of pumpkins or a creepy Halloween backdrop. We guarantee your guests will look twice at these spooky pillows during the Halloween festivities.

As you decorate for Halloween, think outside the coffin. Pumpkins aren’t just for the porch anymore and even skulls and ghosts can make an elegant (and spooky!) table runner. Embrace the Halloween spirit and make your home boo-ti-ful this holiday.
