School is out and your kids are bored.
You don’t want them inside all day watching TV
or playing video games. But sometimes it’s too hot to play outside. You’ve gone
on family hikes, trips to the museum, and biked around the neighborhood after
dinner.
But the kids are still restless, and school is
weeks away.
What should you do?
Laundry!
Everyone in the house contributes to the
dirty laundry — towels, clothes, sheets and bathmats. Now is the time to
recruit your kids to help with the laundry. It’ll keep them busy, teach new
skills and lighten your workload.
Kids should also learn to do the laundry
because:
1)
When your kids move out someday,
whether to college or their own place, they’ll need to understand how to wash
and dry their clothes.
2)
It teaches responsibility and
strengthens family bonds when everyone works together to complete a task.
3)
Kids can help with the laundry at
any age by breaking it down into smaller tasks.
Teach toddlers how to
put their dirty clothes in a laundry basket, and have your older kids fold,
sort and put their clean clothes away.
Helping with the laundry is a great way
for your kids to beat summertime boredom.
And you’ll have less chores! We call that a win-win situation.
