How to Care for Your Memory Foam Mattress

Memory foam mattress

Congratulations! You’re the proud new owner of a memory foam mattress.

Your new mattress is settled in its frame, fitted with fresh sheets and decorated with lovely accent pillows. It is perfect. And it’s a dream to sleep in.

As the honeymoon phase wanes away, worry sets in. You’re in the dark about how to care for your memory foam mattress. Fortunately we have four handy tricks to make caring for your mattress easy.

1.    Rotate
Memory foam mattresses don’t usually need rotating, but it’s recommended to turn your mattress every three months. Doing so prevents any indentations forming in areas where there is a lot of pressure.

2.    Stay Dry
Invest in a mattress protector to shield your mattress from liquids. The material may deteriorate faster if it gets wet.

3.    A Firm Base
Your mattress needs a firm, even and supportive base. A bed base with gaps or other problem areas decreases your mattress’ lifespan.

4.    Heat is Bad
Memory foam is sensitive to heat. Even on cold nights, do not use an electric blanket with a memory foam mattress. The heat damages the foam and the mattress won’t last as long. On the plus side, memory foam mattresses feel much warmer than a regular mattress, so you won’t need an electric blanket to stay warm.

These simple tips ensure your mattress lasts a long time and provides many nights of heavenly sleep.
