A Functional Holiday Kitchen

GE kitchen appliances
The holidays are nearly here. Thanksgiving is only weeks away, and after that, it’s Christmastime. The malls and grocery stores are already decorated in holiday fare. People are making travel plans and pondering what to make for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.

You may be ahead of the game and have your holiday meals planned, but do you have appliances which can handle the high volume of cooking?

If not, we’ve got you covered! Now through November 29th, you can get up to 40% off on select GE appliances. And the extra bonus? Your kitchen will be in great shape for many Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for years to come.

With guests coming and going during the holidays, and your family during the rest of the year, it’s time to invest in a refrigerator with an icemaker and water dispenser. This will make your life so much as easier because there won’t be hands reaching across the sink to fill their empty glasses with water. You could finally wash vegetables or clean dirty dishes in peace.

And with hefty holiday meals comes a ton of delicious leftovers. You could make turkey sandwiches, ham and split pea soup, and whatever else your imagination dreams up. But most of those recipes start by giving your food a quick zap in the microwave. The GE over-the-range microwave has 10 different power levels for more cooking flexibility.

The holidays are right around the corner. Blink, and it’ll be Thanksgiving. Blink again, and it’s Christmas. In addition to preparing your meals, take the time to ensure you have high quality kitchen appliances.

Win the Fight Against Chocolate Stains

how to remove chocolate stains
After Halloween, your kids happily bring home buckets and pillowcases full of candy, most of which are blanketed in a thick chocolate coating. You’ve done your post-Halloween due diligence and checked their candy hauls for anything suspicious, and found a way to distribute their chocolaty treats throughout the upcoming months so they don’t eat it all in one night.

One thing you didn’t plan for were the chocolate stains, and not just what gets on their hands and face. All those new clothes you bought for their back to school wardrobe? Some of them are already dirty, stained with chocolate from Halloween night.

Is it possible to clean these clothes and save yourself money and heartache? Fortunately, with a few simple steps you can remove chocolate stains from washable fabrics.

  1. Scrape off excess chocolate, but do so carefully. You don’t want to rub chocolate deeper in the fibers of the clothes.
  2. Flush the back of the stained clothing with cold water or soda water. This loosens the chocolate particles.
  3. Rub laundry detergent or liquid dishwashing detergent into the stain, so it saturates the fabric.
  4. Soak the clothes in cold water for 15 minutes, gently rubbing the stain every 3-5 minutes. Continue doing this and rinsing the garment until the stain is gone. You may need to apply more detergent for a stubborn stain.
  5. If the stain remains, use a commercial stain remover.
  6. Wash as usual in the washing machine, and the stain should be gone. If not, repeat steps 2-5. Check to see if the stain is gone before drying or ironing.

You need no longer fear the dreaded chocolate stain. It can easily be removed in a few simple steps, returning clothes to their former glory.
